    Looks like you are having a mini cycle. Nitrites can be deadly. How do the fish look?DO NOT SWITCH OFF THE SKIMMER.

    Turn the skimmer off. Wait a couple of minutes. Turn the skimmer back on. The level of bubbles should be about an inch above the bottom of the cup.
