    Algae in DT & sump. Why?

    Pics? You might be able to remove it by hand if it is dense... the nitrate/phosphate might test 0 due to the fact that the hair algae is feeding off...

    You should be fine drilling the way you mentioned. I have a cornerflo setup and they work great... I never tried it the way you are doing it but...

    Lots of growth.

    My overflow did the same thing, it also made a "flushing" sound like a toilet. I found the cause was that I didn't have a ball valve on the PVC...
