The new Kessil A360 LED aquarium lights will be shipping this month! The A360N and A360W have some nice improvements over the current Kessil A350. For starters, rather than finding the sweet spot of color and intensity by mixing two channels separately, you now can control the spectrum with one knob and simply change the intensity with the other. Even better in my opinion is the addition of a couple ports operating in the 1-10DC range making the Kessil A360 compatible with many external controllers. All that and up to a 30% boost in output. Nice light Kessil! MSRP $449.

Back in October I got pretty excited when I saw the new ATI LED Powermodule up close. Beyond the usual ATI aluminum slickness, the standout with this powermodule is the 75w LED cluster nestled between T5 tubes. This light combination is fully programmable, dimmable and the T5's should bring more balance to the Bridgelux* LEDs. Coming next month. MSRPs below.

The new MiniMax media reactor from Innovative Marine is really mini at just 2" x 2.3" x 11.4". But not only will the MiniMax slip into the back of many nanos out there, it also has a few features not found in many bigger reactors. The first is the twist-top that allows you to easily adjust flow through the reactor without getting your hands wet. And the inner column can be quickly removed for no-mess media changes. Kudos to Innovate Marine. The 150mL 2.5 watt Desktop model will be available soon at an MSRP of $99. A mid-size $129 version will also be available. Video added to post #10.

Recently I tried out the AccuDrip Acclimation Kit by Innovative Marine. The AccuDrip makes acclimating fish easy and error free with a self-priming siphon bulb that doubles as a drip counter and a curved rigid tube that easily hangs on your aquarium. It has been out for a while now but I have been waiting for a true test to check out the one I received from IM. So when I bought a Bongo Shrimp last week, it was time for the AccuDrip. Proper acclimation is critical with many invertebrates and I did not want to screw this one up as rare Bongo shrimp are expensive. Check out the 1 minute install and AccuDrip review below.

After removing my AccuDrip from the package, nothing more than a quick glance over the instructions was needed to get my acclimation started as it came fully assembled. I simply hung the curved end over the lip of my tank, squeezed the siphon bulb and adjusted the drip with roller clamp. The ease of...

Jason Isley is an incredible underwater photographer that had a brilliant idea last fall to keep things interesting - creating surreal scenes by incorporating miniature figures commonly used with toy trains. My jaw dropped when I stumbled on these photos this week. The scale of the figures to the fish and invertebrates is absolutely perfect. I had to reach out to him to learn more. To my surprise, he actually wrote back. Read the fascinating story behind these photos below.

HI Matt,

Not sure if this will effect your desire to post them on an aquarium blog BUT they weren't shot in an aquarium, they were shot on reefs in Malaysia and Indonesia whilst on scuba. I had to plan the shots very carefully, knowing the subjects I would encounter and then setting up the...
