The new Cobalt Aauatics Neo-Therm heater is as strong as it is flat. For my demo, co-founder Les Wilson took the resin-filled Neo-Therm out of an aquarium - while on - held it in his hand and then threw it on the floor and stood on it. Then he picked it up, cycled through settings with LED responding and then put it back in the aquarium. Sold. Specs and more details following my 1 minute install below.

This Cobalt heater is crazy flat in the neighborhood of 1/4".

The Neo-Therm will fit it very tight spaces in your sump.

The advanced electronic thermostat is accurate to ±0.5ºF and includes a LED that displays both the Set Temp and TankTemp simultaneously and has a Set temperature range up to 96ºF.

The new ReeFlo BH 2700 external pump is a serious pump. At 6' of head it will crank out up to 2405 GPH. And it can still pull 795 GPH at 24 feet! Pretty incredible for a pump with only a 9"x9" footprint. The BH 2700 is versatile too with selectable power settings and also consumes less wattage that other brands. (See PDF) I don't see a lot of pumps with a stainless steel pump head. They have had one soaking in saltwater for 2 months now and it is going strong. And the one at RAP was dead quiet. A unique pump available now with an MSRP of $259. But if 3reefers want to be beta-testers, you can get it for only $159! Email bethf AT reeflopumps for details.

The BH stands for BlowHole! What a name. ReeFlo's booth at RAP said 'Ask us about our Blowhole!' I had to ask. :)

inTank's new All-In-One Corner Algae Scraper got a big test on my tank recently and aced it. inTank's scraper is not the flimsy freebie you get at reef shows, it is beefy and fits in your hand nicely. Standout features are the 3 unique corners bound to fit in that hard to get space in your tank, a 90 degree corner and diamond ground edges. The test was not an easy one - my gnarly return overflow slash ATS that bakes under my halide all day.

The All-In-One mowed it down in about 1 minute. This scraper is a keeper and a great value at $8.99.

The concept of Tropic Marin's Nano Shake & Make saltwater dispenser had me pretty excited at MACNA I have to admit. I really thought it was a novel concept. The container comes out of the box with the exact amount of salt you need for it. Just add water. And when it is time for your next one, just procure the new Tropic Marin 10L salt packet and do it again. It seemed bullet-proof and made me think perhaps Tropic Marin found a niche here with the nano crowd. However then I decided to give this a go and found sometimes the simple things aren't so simple. Details below.

I have to start by talking about the dispenser. Plastic with accordion-like expanding ribs, the dispenser is a big component of the big idea. Empty, it requires minimal packaging and is easy to ship. Pluses there. But I recall wondering at MACNA about strength when full of water. More on this in a bit.

A quick negative showed up when I looked close at the dispenser for the water fill-line. It doesn't have one. Umm,...

The new Tunze Nano Wavebox 6208 has this nano guy pretty excited. It has many improvements over its retired predecessor, the Tunze 6206. The Wavebox housing is new and more attractive with the polish you expect from Tunze. And although just a bit larger at 4.3" x 3.5" x 10", it holds a bigger pump that addresses the mixed reviews of the original Nano Wavebox. Now a nanostream 6055 sits inside kicking out up to 1450 gph at 18 watts. Best of all, thanks to production refinements, the new Wavebox is even cheaper with an MSRP of $332. For those balking at the price of two Vortechs, the Tunze Nano WaveBox will look very attractive. In stores this November.

The New Tunze Nano Wavebox is dwarfed by Tunze magnets.
