This gorgeous mid-century aquarium is not only framed in copper, it also tapers downward toward the base. How cool is that? This aquarium is currently being sold on eBay and the seller believes it to be around 20 gallons. The cool copper hood appears to be easily retro-fitted with LEDs or T5s. MakersLED is hoping the match the success of BANGGAI RESCUE on Kickstarter but their mission is quite different - they want to mass produce high-quality LED kits with attractive heatsinks and a commercial look so our DIY project doesn't look DIY. It's a cool idea by Andy and Mark McClure - two hobbyists with engineering backgrounds that helped design and launch the AI fixture in 2007. A nice twist on pledges made to MakersLED is that they will count as a pre-order on a fixture if they get funding. Less than two weeks left, so if you like them, be sure to make a pledge today.

Reef Angel's new Portal is yet another free service benefiting Reef Angel users that allows you to not only check all of your aquarium parameters and activity at a glance online at any time - but toggle settings as well! If you have a valid Wifi address, you can adjust feeding and water change modes too. I suspect members of the Reef Angel forum are having a lot of fun today. The Portal is a web page where RA users can check their parameters, toggle on/off sockets, initiate feeding, get relay activity and graph charts of parameter history of the past 7 days, setup email alerts, setup labels of each socket and get links for their web banners.

The Flipper is the latest in algae scrapers notable for the stainless steel blade designed to make coralline removal faster than your morning shave. In this regard, the Flipper delivers. Coralline algae doesn't have a chance. The thickest deposit in my tank was removed in less than 3 seconds with the Flipper. Most of my effort was spent merely wielding the mighty Flipper with its strong magnet and large size. For the results, the Flipper was worth the effort. Details below.

Excited, I just went for it and placed the Flipper in my aquarium without reading the instructions. How hard...

The Flipper Cleaner algae scraper looks very promising and should easily flip into a lot of our aquariums at the end of the month when it goes for sale. First of all it works on glass up to 1/2" thick, comes with a stainless steel blade that slays coraline as shown in the video and also a serrated plastic blade for acrylic tanks. One side is a soft cleaning pad for daily maintenance and a flip of the handle gives you the blade side. It always sinks upright so you can retrieve it easily. Very nice at an intro price of $19.99. The Flipper is available January 30th.
