Tropic Marin has new and very nice aluminum SunaECO LED fixtures that pack in the AquaBeam LED modules and couple them to AquaRay Multicontrol 8 controllers. The strips are AquaBeam 500s and the modules are AquaBeam 1000 HD Ultra tiles. Both sport CREE XP-E LEDs in the 14k range with a few 50k blues. The Multicontrol 8 controller is feature rich with 2 channel fade-in and out, storm options and the ability to time six inputs separately from the other 2. All those LED modules boil down to 1 plug out of the controller too. If you want something different than others over here and you have the coin, this might be your lamp.

An aquarium expo in Taipei, Taiwan is claiming to have the world's longest aquarium at 33 meters. It contains 28 tons of water within tempered glass with an "extra explosion proof" layer. It looks like it has a ton of cichlids in it as well. Lai Yung-sheng, an 'aquarium artist' and Bill Murray look-alike, went nuts with Styrofoam and foamed concrete to recreate 30 landmarks. Something tells me this is not on a wood floor.

If anyone is going to bring back downdraft skimmers it is Steve Bashi of Bashsea Mastered Aquatic Designs in Michigan. Just look at his hand-built 6"x24" 'Twisted' model. Not only is it innovative with 'twisted' diffusers in the injector for maximum air/water contact time and efficiency - it is crazily over-built like old American cars. This skimmer will literally crush the competition. This is a theme with all of Steve's products, they are innovative and built to last. Steve loves this hobby and it shows in all of his products. Pics, specs and more from the Bashsea product line below.

CPR has come up with with some very small footprint reactors for you bio-pellet fans out there. Pictured are the CPR beta model Mini and Nano Reactors that will be in limited release by the time you read this through Ameka Aquatics. These betas, due to popular demand, will be in advance of the production models coming later this year. Both the Mini and Nano reactors feature low-flow pumps with dispersion strainers inside. CPR also has a black in-tank cover for the nano version. Simple and small. Gotta love them. Nice work CPR.

Barcelona's Blau Aquaristic could run with the bulls in the USA with their full line of aquarium products but unfortunately they don't have a distributor yet. I hope that changes. From algae scrapers to rimless aquariums, Blau has the bases covered with some quality goods at great prices. My eyes were drawn to the big skimmers, but I really began to appreciate the craftsmanship in the aquariums and sumps. All the aquariums were rimless with beveled edges. The sumps had good baffles and innovative freshwater reservoirs for ATOs. The big sump I was looking at was only $199.

Nice sump with freshwater reservoir for ATO. An interesting feature in a sump.
