Milwaukee Instruments has always made top notch tools for aquarium hobbyists and their latest are no exception. The recently available MA887 digital refractometer is accurate within .002 on SG and can measure from 3 different scales. And their new MW700 Lux Meter has a waterproof probe now so you can take measurements from the bottom of your tank where it matters the most. Seeing all of Milwaukee's tools on display recently, this 3reefer wanted to throw them all in a sack, but for now I will have to be content with the attached PDF and start savings some nickels. As usual, great stuff from our friends in NC. More details inside thread.

The new Milwaukee MA887 Seawater Digital Refractometer encompasses 3 different types of user selected scales for the measurement of seawater providing for a much more precise evaluation. Each scale is temperature compensated.

Here is a glimpse of the new extra coarse ARM calcium reactor media from CaribSea. At this grade, you should not have to worry about packing and CO[SUB]2[/SUB] build up. Another nice touch is the Extra Coarse version is spiked with three times the magnesium found in other versions. Extra Coarse ARM is graded and processed for immediate use, no rinsing required.

When Otty told us about the inland ReefKeeper Saw last month I had a hard time getting a sense of scale from the press-release photo. I had flashbacks to my Dad's old Skill saw that used to dim the lights in the basement when you turned it on. Well after getting a demo from inland's CEO Donald Hirst recently I can say that this saw was built for people without a lot of shop experience, with safety in mind and is smaller than I thought. You can put your hand against the moving blade even and not cut yourself - the blade only reacts to hard surfaces. And the whole tool is actually a fairly small desktop size that is easily transportable. Lastly the ReefKeeper Saw is intuitive and easy to use. If you have a green thumb and do a lot of fragging, check out the ReefKeeper Saw. Demo photos below.

Midwestern Aquatic's Expoxonite frag plugs and frag rock stand out for the little hand-made details. The plugs are covered with CaribSea substrate for good bonding and the rock holds 3 plugs and has a nice realistic texture to it as well. Recently picked up by Marine Depot and others, we can expect to see more and more from them soon. Which as you can see, would be a good thing for reefers everywhere.

3reef Sponsor Eshopps has a cool new probe holder with magnet mounts coming out this June for a great price of less than $30 bucks. Beyond the uncluttered simplicity of these holders, what I particularly liked about them is that the magnets were the right strength - strong enough to hold, but easy enough to move around the sump. Another cool and helpful item for hobbyists from Eschopps - coming soon!
