i havent a clue why this is going on since there have been no other changes all readings nitrates and such are where they were, i can clear the sand and its back within a hour or two. i run a uv on my tank so i wonder what would happen if i shut it down? also i never had an outbreak as this even when the tank was new. back to phoenix bulbs i go. would love to hear others findings on this bulb. is it just my tank? or is this common.? or is the bulb just to new to get those answers?

algae is now back under control...YEA! boy was that a pain cleaning the tank daily was not my idea of fun. i realized today i hadn't had my hand in the tank for a couple days, well except to feed. all the sand looks good again. running gfo and carbon in a reactor knocked that algae right out.
i used to run gfo and carbon in a bag in a high flow area, i feel that just wasn't doing it, my phosphates were not in check. i believe the new light just triggered the outbreak and didn't really cause it.
