    I would doubt you do. Just keep them under water, they won't suck air if they're under water, just more water, and no bubbles. Edit, looks like...

    Make sure the powerhead is submerged completely. You do not need any air valves or hoses on them.

    You do however get what you pay for. If I had it to do over again, I would use a pair of them on my 75. My next tank will use Vortechs.
