So I was in the process of restarting my 55 gal tank I had running for years but sadly had to move . Well I got about 3 months into the process and the center strap ofy tank from yers of salt rot , snapped and pulled apart causing my tank to develop a bow in the front of it . Fearing this bow would develop worse I moved the little bit of (new) live rock and the lil bit of live stock i had to a ten gal tank I've had on hand . And well now I like how it looks and would rather build a more fuller looking nano then a huge one again . What would be the best lighting for this . I currently have a single build compact floresent fixture from coralife . Is this going to be adiquit lighting for keeping corals or should I add something . And how about a nit time light . Would one be suggested ? And if so what would be best . Or should i ask what color light is best for night ...... I'm pretty sure from before it's blue of some sort

Personally I would recommend an LED bulb. I have an 8 gallon and I think any Compact bulbs would create too much heat. CREE LED par38 bulbs are awesome, check them out online. They screw into any normal light socket and do not produce a lot of heat. There are also many options for the bulb configuration. That combined with the extremely long life and low energy consumption practically make LED's a no brainer IMO

I like the Skylights from Innovative Marine which I use on the nano on my desk. You would probably only need 1 or 2 if you want to keep SPS in your tank. They have separate plugs for daylight and blues which you can put on separate timers.

I actually have this light over my NUVO 8 and it is great, but I like the more blue look so I am also adding a CREE bulb. The light would be good for LPS but I think you will need a booster to keep SPS. I'm still in the beginning stages of my tank so I haven't gotten to test it with SPS yet. The CREE bulb I got was only $80 and it has 8 royal blue LEDs and 4 10k daylight LEDs.

What size/brand nano? And you don't need moonlights at all. Some people do run them most of the night, others run them an hour or two after lights are off, others don't run them at all.
