I been waiting and waiting to find a used 20gal tank to do this, I think its the right size for my 40b, I really don't want to buy new at about $50 for this purpose <<<<< cheap skate!! anyways! with 10gals being able to pick up for about $12 new and seen used ones all over the place, thinking since I am really wanting to get going on that maybe I may have to settle. I do want a Refugium, I want to use mud, grow micro algae in there and of course have the skimmer and heater also in there, do you think a 10gal will work OK for this or do you agree with me that its to small?

Personally I think a 10g would be a tad small. I'm sure with a little hunting around you could find a used 20 for $20 :) Put an ad here or on CL.

Petco should be having the $1 a gallon tank sale pretty soon. Check with your local store.

You know I have a 29 gallon but its a tight fit in the stand, but if I could remove the plastic frame on it, it would fit in there. I never took those off tanks before, how would that hold up if I did?

OK so never mind the 10 gallon, so I been looking around, seem some interesting stuff and 1 gave me an idea, so I got my measurements and called the glass shop about 3/16 pexi-glass, told him what I needed and he estimate was about $120. WOW! so then i found this online and wanted to know if any of you tried this, thought about it, its a ( Aquarium Filter KIT- 24x12x15 Sump/Refugium. The material used is Lucite L cast acrylic (High grade) and it is 3/16" and 1/4" gauge. You will be building a 24x12x15 refugium. the price is good at $98, all pre-cut, just put it together.

Well for that price you may as well buy the 20 gallon and cut your own baffles (thats what i just did for my 40B with 20L sump). I just dont trust myselft putting a tank/sump together, if something were to go wrong it could be a big, big problem.

Yeah I'd just track down a 20g and have a glass shop cut ya baffles! Cost me $7 for 3 of them and $5 in aquarium safe silicon, then about 15 minutes to build! Super easy;)

Will its not exactly what I was looking for, but I couldn't pass for $5, I got my 20, 20 long that is, but it will work! it will still increase my water volume at least by 17-18 gallons. They had Mice in it or something, so I cleaned it up and re-sealed it, been working on a DIY Algae Turf Scrubber that I will put in the refugium part of the Sump, seen one done in here somewhere using bubbles, I will do something simular.
