this thread seems to have a nice write up and pictures.

I did the ASM G3 mesh wheel mod (many pics) - WAMAS Forums

I have mine set up like a recirculating skimmer, and its fed by a return line from my sump. I'm planning to run this same skimmer (only adding a second recirculating sedra 5000) set up this way on my next upgrade which will be over 300g but it will also have a 60 gallon refugium.

Update time. Got some plumbing done. And got a fuge light 6500K Home Depot special. Sorry for the rats nest of cords I will be cleaning that up. I also took your advice iLLwiLL and ordered the supplies for the ASM hence why you see no pump or gate mod.

Looks good, Nice DIY manifold. One thing I noticed thou, the stand that is made out of pvc(skimmer), did you drill some holes into it?

if you take the main pump out for maintenance how are you going to stop the water from coming out of the sump without a valve?

I thought of that after the fact. That black end comes out and I have a plug that screws in. Not the best solution but will work. Good eye. ;D

if possible put a valve on the input side of the main pump, the strainer on the main pumps inlet will restrict flow, your better off with an elbow pointed downwards

the corrugated grey lines are going to collect material and the loop is going to restrict flow

if the skimmer is fed by the main tanks drain then a T with a valve going into the sump would allow proper tuning of the skimmer

the block sponge will add nutrients and is a pain to deal with, but what it will do is collect all the pods that can be used for feeding or placing them back into the main tank, if your gonna keep the sponge than an extra one is nice to have. or,,, you can take out the block sponge and put a bulkhead fitting on the inside wall with a pipe going to a filter sock or,,, take out the block sponge and use an acrylic piece that lay horizontally where the sponge was with a bulkhead fitting and a filter sock )

you might want to move the electrical oulets from behind the stand to the inside side for easier access

on a different note in regards to the skimmer:
a mesh mod with a recirc works wonders and if possible a beckett injector fed by another pump

ive put many systems together and am just trying to minimize future problems for ya, if you dont do anything mentioned i wont take offense to it

Thanks for the ideas. One question if I remove the sponge and add a piece of acrylic would I do it the whole length.width of the sponge ? And would the sock filter also trap the pods ? I also think Im going to hard plumb the gray lines incase I need to remove the sump so I can have valves.
