You probably should have waited to buy the pods until after your tank is cycled. I'm sure some may survive, but many will die when the ammonia gets up there. Plus the maroon clown wont' really eat them anyways like a wrasse, mandarin or angel will, so IMO, they aren't really needed. As to how long they can survive, my guess would be at least a few days if kept warm. However, another thought, many will probably die anyways, even if you could add them now as their population is correlated to the amount of food available. Your tank won't have much food for them initially. I don't want to sound like a bummer, but you could have saved yourself some money.

They where free. I opened the bag so they can get some fresh air, and I dropped a shrimp pellet in for them to eat. And I guess I need to change some of the water. Maybe they’ll live longer if I keep doing those things. Do you think so?

Well, if they were free, then no big deal. I would use a little bit of filter feeder food or sps coral food. The pellet is too big.

I have 10 gallons of water mixing. After that, I’ll start mixing another 5 gallons. So my tank will be over half full today.

I have the first 10 gallons in. I also put my pods in (I only lost a few). I have 5 more gallons I’m mixing up, and then I’ll call it a day. I’ll get the rest of the water in a couple days (maybe tomorrow)
