So I tried every possible configuration this afternoon trying to fit 35#'s of brs reef saver rock into a 29g standard tank. I learned first hand just how hard that could be. The high and narrow tank makes it a bit of a challenge.

Here is what I thought was going to be the final configuration after a few hours of moving and stacking

Here is a few hours later when I got sick of looking at the "pile of rocks" and took a hammer and chisel to the bigger pieces.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Yes I like the second scape better as well.

Round boulder shapes should always be at the base, it just looks more natural to me.

    Looking good.

    Agreed.

I have a 29H, myself. You can check out my scape in my tank thread.

Personally, I prefer buying my rock from the LFS so I can pick each piece, but I still rearranged it like 5 times while the tank was cycling before I got close to the look I wanted. Honestly, I'm still not completely satisfied with the lack of space around the rockwork, but there's not much I can do besides move everything into a 40B (which is not in the plans, ATM)...

Kudos to you, and congrats and good luck on the new tank. :)

Thanks Corailline. When I was practicing the scape out of the tank I had so many natural looking configurations but once squeezed into the glass box it came out looking unnatural. I am still messing around with it a bit;D

Thanks Mr. Bill! I really like your scape and those rocks are a neat shape and size. I decided to take one of the rocks off the top left peak to open up the tank a little more. It will still leave me with about 28 pounds so I think I should be fine and I "THINK" I may be happy and start adding water today : )

I have had 32 gallons of saltwater mixing/heating up in my basement since yesterday. It should be ready to go now! Pics of it wet to follow!

Definitely agree on the 2nd pic. Not only looks good but gives you many options for coral placement.

I have a 29H too. Pain to scape.
My guess is I have around 35+ pounds of BRS rock and 10 pounds local live.
Check out my build thread if you want any scape ideas...

I can't see any pics right now (work), I'll check em' out tonight.
