We went away for a long vacation and had one of our tenants, a female, take care of all of our tanks. We showed her how to clean the skimmer, top off water, etc...There was no problems at all, but I was a nervouse wreck...LOL8) We have professional services in our area, I am not sure where you live, but that might be a solution

half the stores in my area either do house visits to your tank or know someone who does house visits for people on vacation.

Ask for former employee contact numbers...:-/

Being in a Navy town...I see this all the time. Have seen LFS "babysit" favorite fish in shop for periods of time. Otherwise, seems they sell out stock to LFS and rebuy upon return.

    It sucks.

Good luck. I actually have my 180 at my parents house as I had to find a place for it after my divorce. My mom actually cares for it and I have had no problems. It has been a year now and because her hands are not in there all the time like mine, the growth is amazing. I will be finally able to get it back this yr and am dreading another move already. The best part is instead of her actually learning the names for everything she just came up with her own and I had to learn her words for each fish / coral / inverts. They are only 50 miles away so I still do the maintance. Nothing like my weekly call. "I have not seen Spike in 4 days and I'm worried." She is actually referring to the yellow watchman goby that only seems to come out when she calls and is scared it may be dead. :)

Man, I'm reading along and thinking the exact same thing! then I see cuttingras and thought "an away we go!"

What about local reef clubs, is there any?

My 13 year old grand Daughter is learning right along side of me. She even did a water change on all 3 tanks this weekend, which included Mixing and testing the water! She sits right next to two of my tanks while she is using my desktop computer (which at 13 is pretty much every hour she is awake) so she is also my watchdog when ever something is wrong.

It was humor. Women rock and without them where would be. {{DAMAGE CONTROL}} Didnt mean to distact from the topic so much.
