I am considering upgrading my 30g long to a 40g breeder. To those of you with 40g breeders, what are the advantages and disadvantages to having this tank? Thanks!

I really like its foot print. Its really wide and shallow, so it gives you plenty of room to make a cool scape. I'd definitely recommend a breeder.

The height is basically perfect. Corals that don't need a lot of light can go on the bottom, and everything else gets as much as they need. The footprint, as aw1447 mentioned, is also ideal because the tank is small enough to go in the corner of your room yet big enough to have some decent sized corals and fish.

The only drawback is the overall lack of size. I wish I could have tangs and stuff like that but it will never happen in a 40b.

And there's one more advantage. You get to join the 40 Breeder club. :D

To me the pro is the footprint. The con is the uhhh footprint. It's an overall fantastic tank, but you have to make your own stand or have one built. Other than that it is perfect! I always say it's like a bigger tank that's been shot with a shrink ray. It's not like the standard skinny tanks and so it's easy to scape. I've never heard of anyone not loving a 40b.;D

Yeah, the stand I have for my 30g I actually bought at a thrift store and it would fit a 40g perfectly. I like the idea of the bigger footprint.
