my LFS guy there told me that it would be enough lights for corals in my tank when i get them

    tank is L-48' W-16' D-20'

anyone think this will support corals and mabey a clam or will i need more lights later on?

yeah or you can look into a retro kit. To be honest it will be near impossible to keep a clam with 2 t5s even at 4 it might be hard.

I would suggest at least 4 x54 T5 HO bulbs. This will allow you to keep softies and most lps. If you can exchange it, I would do that. Good luck with it.

With those dimesions I would say 4-6 T5s would be sufficient to grow even SPS in the tank. Depending on the clam and where its placed it would most likely survive in those bulb ranges as well.
Believe it or not many softies can tolerate much more light than SPS can and you would be surprised with how much light(PAR) SPS really need to grow.

I would look into a 4-6 bulb unit, whether you make it or buy one.... I am sure you guys have access to online stores there, look into Tek, Aquactinics, ATI or heck if you are desperate Current's Nova extreme Pro... But that is a last resort!

    Good luck
