I was wondering if you can use a 36 inch light for a 75 gallon tank???? The tank is 48 in long..

You could, heck you can use a single incandescent bulb if you'd like. You just need to plan ahead as to what if any corals you plan on keeping and how are you going to get the 36" light to stay mounted on the 48" tank. Most lights have the mounting legs or risers on the end.. Unless of course you hang it!
What type of light is it?
What if any corals do you plan on?

    Happy reefing!
