Hey guys i have a 75 gallon with 3 bulb catalina t-5 setup with 2 aqua blues special and 1 blue plus. But i also have a t-8 single strip w/ a marine glo. The total is 202 watts. I currently have some mushrooms, green star polyps zoas, and an anenome. Would i be able to have hammer and frogspawn?? What about birdsnest? Or would i need to updrage to a 6 bulb?

    Welcome to 3reef.

You could add the corals no problem especially if you run the T8. Put the birdsnest on the middle to top portion of the rocks.

Birdnest corals are medium light loving corals. It will thrive and have good color. The OP is using top of the line T5HO bulbs and the reflectors are decent. T5HO are much more efficient than people think. I am using 4 T5HO and am keeping any coral I want with great color.

    +1 on above

    I have a 6 lamp T5 canopy
and I can agree that the pink birdsnest I had started to look orange when I placed it to high in my reef tank
I lowered it to approximately half way and it regained its pinkish coloration

Thanks guys. I gonna be upgrading to a 4 bulb light fixture (Catalina or TEK). The bulbs will be 2 blue plus 1 blue plus special and 1 fiji purple. Please feel free to let me know how that will do.
