I havent been here in a while. I have had a lot happen to my 75 gal in the past 6 months.

First, I went on vacation 6 months ago to NYC for a week and the person taking care of my tank killed ALL my coral, except my mushrooms. Somehow she managed to electrocute my tank. I had 3 power brite strips over my tank for moonlighting. Somehow the cords fell into my tank and elctrocuted everything. The cords sat in the water for 6 days. Ruined the power brites also.

I had a enormous GHA outbreak right after that, started on one rock and within a week took over everything, I mean everything. I have been battling hard for 2 months then had just about given up. I almost ripped the tank down. I have been slacking because I didnt care about it like I should have, my tank was ugly, I lost all my coral, my beloved LMB jumped out and commited suicide.

Then I went to Key West a few weeks ago. Went snorkeling on the coral reefs down there and got remotivated. Reminded me why I love this hobby.

This is before, not the most recent good picture. I had coraline on every rock.

This is now, there was so much GHA that you couldnt even see the rocks. :( Such a sad sight.

I used my crappy camera, the lights are waaaay brighter in person. I have a wavepoint fixture with 4 month old bulbs.

I kept some of the "dead" coral in the tank, there is some flesh still on them and I am too reluctant to take them out.

I did a complete black out for a week, killed a lot of it . I manually removed as much as I could. And have done 3 30% WCs with RODI water. I have 2 chemipure elites in my sump.

Testing my levels when I get back from work tonight.

On a side note, I have more asterina and brittle stars than I have ever had.

Ugh. It sucks when someone else (even by accident) basically undoes all your hard work! Best of luck with the restart.

Why not try a couple of sea hares? I've always wondered if in a big outbreak if it would work, they apparently clean up pretty well.

Welcome back. I would keep a total blackout going unless you have corals. if not, I would do 3-4 day blackouts and continue the rest of your regimen. Glad to see you come back and not give up.

Never give up.. Got a great tank! It still makes me nervous only over night stay, let alone, 6 days... Did you get to set up the 20G sump?

Glad to hear you've been remotivated, maybe need to have a fellow refer take care of it when you're gone or a service.

Thanks. Yeah it does suck, I couldn't get mad at her. In front of her at least, lol.

I thought about it. I would only do it if the store would let me bring it back once it got under control. Otherwise I would hate for it to starve.

Thanks bruh! Yeah I only have 3 mushrooms left. I will probably do a 4 day blackout. Those 3 shrooms are troopers apparently. I really almost did give up. I was devastated, but I am SOOO glad I didn't give up. I really enjoy this hobby.

Thanks a lot. Yeah the sump has been running all along. I was so nervous in NYC while I was gone. And I couldn't believe what happened when I got home. She had no idea what she did. No clue. I am glad she didnt stick her hand in the tank, she would have been zapped. The plug was plugged into the wall.

Thanks ;) I thankfully have a friend who is a reefer that just moved back into town. He will be my guy from now on.

Thanks! I love pictures so there will be plenty to come :D

    hang in there,
you might want to try an ATS to compete against the GHA in the DT.
