So i purchased 2 very small pieces of live rock with 2 purple/blue flourescent shrooms. however the real thing im interested in is that there are 8 tiny little featherdusters. 7 of them have white fans with brown stripes however there is one with a orange/red straight colored fan. Also this fan keeps rotating around. Is this normal to have so many small featherdusters on a rock? will they eventually grow to the size of mature dusters, if so how long will it take?

Quantity is normal, they rotate because the worm inside is doing it and those are most likely already full sized.

The ones that live in the rock are a different species than the species that live in their own big tube.

Yeah people refer to them as micros and minis for the little ones. I have them in the micro which seem to be around 1/8" diameter, minis around 1/2" diameter and then I got one that is around 1" in diameter besides a Hawaiian.

I have quite a few of the micros, I don't have any minis, but I have a dwarf and a Hawaiian. I also have some that are in the back-sump that I'm not really sure how big they are, but they're in the flow path of the skimmer pump. It's kinda far down to look and judge their size.

IME they multiply like crazy. I have a ton in my fuge. No idea where they came from. They're all over the rocks, the glass, the cheato...heck even growing all over my return pump.
