it has been quite long i have updated the tank

    soo here it goes

in this weeks time slowly and steadily added few fishes no proper light setup and no good camera in hand so not able to click the pics
    so current tank inhabitants
    started with 2 chromis
    added 1 seabe clown
    1 yellow tail chromis
    again 2 small chromis
    6 turbo snails
2 hermit (local ones so they are in sump, dont wanna get them to main tank)
and finally today 1 yellow tang (this yellow tang is in a lfs tank with other tang since 4 months and full set, and due to diwali the lfs guy gave me for 50%)

in this week did 3 tests and all test are positive, so this makes me confident to add new fishes.

finally i got the long waited prodibio products, i wish i would have got this product at the time of cycling the cycling would be easier and faster
got stopamo, biodigest, biotim and chlora
used it for the first time before 30 mins in the tank lets see how it works on the tank

Problem: i am not sure is this a problem or not, but the thing is skimmer has not yet started to foam.
on the far left side of the tank can see algae picking up with the indirect sunlight. lets see how this prodibio products responds.

have also ordered 660nm red LED for the ATS, trying to replicate the santamonica.

    comments and criticism please !!!!

not geting replies :( from one of the best sites around any ways i ll update

Been quite long since i updated

the tank is doing good, no mortalities all stock growing and eating like pigs
algae is taking up the tank
and most importantly with gods grace and lots of hardwork and prayings the skimmer has finally started to show some foaming :dance :dance :dance

added plenty of shells around 30 to avoid aggression between the hermits. they both are now in display tank and are shifting from one shell to another. its fun watching them.

got the QT tank and stand today. will set it up and set running with the following stuff
    24X12X15 tank
    stand
    canopy with 9 W light
    heater
eheim 2217 (suggestions needed here) should i ?? with no media or just ceramic rings
    OR bio sponge filter airdriven
lots of PVC pipes for hiding
anything missing please let me know.

this weekend i am expecting the following stock
    1 powder blue tang
    9 blue green chromis
    1 algae eating blenny
    2 percula clown

1 flame angel (eating pellets hikari)
blue small starfish (very nice and active) both this fishes needs suggestions to keep from you guys.

all the above fishes are in QT at LFS in near city and are imported, he sends me the video every day with different angles of them feeding. the flame angel also accepts the food very nicely soo still thinking whether to get or not. any help here.... ??

also getting some hermits and snails for the tank. not sure when they will come i am waiting.

thanks for reading any suggestions on stocking and setting up QT is most welcomed.

    Hi Jaival,

With all the new glass and equipment you might see a pretty long diatom bloom.

This tank is outside correct? If it's getting natural sunlight you will probably have some issues with cyano and other problem algae. What about a large Algae Turf Scrubber?

Sorry if I missed it but how are you going to maintain the tank temp?

That is a great Sebae clown, are you going to get a Sebae anemone for it?

For the mysterious Chromis death, well Chromis are funny little fish, collection methods and transport is probably the major contributor to their demise. Then then fight, in a tank the size of yours I image both the Chromis and the Clowns will have enough room but I would keep an eye out for aggression.

Those look like huge hermits, hopefully they will be of some assist regarding algae control.

Keep up the good work and more full tank shots please.

Whats the best way to shortern the diatom algae ??

Yes the tank is outside, and has a indirect sunlight for an hour or soo.

Regarding the ATS i have told my friend to make one we are in process to make one just waiting for 660nm led lights. Ordered 24-28 of those and expecting in few days.

The tank temperature will be maintained by a chiller and fans on the top.

Regarding the anemon i am not sure, not in near future for sure. I wish to get the basics forst and then jump into inverts.

Have ordered some more hermits and snails hope they work well.

Yes ll upload more pics when the stock comes inn. May be next week. Thanks for questions.

Can you please suggest me lights on this tank.

    Thank you for the response.

What lighting fixtures are available to you? Are you willing to have them imported?

Since it is an outside tank I would probably go with LED, this will save enormously heat and electricity wise.

I imaging once the tank becomes more established the algae issues with use of RO/DI water and algae scrubber will assist you greatly. It is just having patience through those ugly new tank stages that is so trying.

I really do like this tank and can certainly appreciate the fact that you are going to take it slow before going to inverts. I am not the type of person that can do that. I have to jump into things head first. I can't wait to see this tank progress and to be honest, I wish I lived in a climate where I could keep my tank outside but I live in the middle of Oregon and it's cold as heck here.
