some people just acclimate by temp(setting the bag of coral into the water and float for 15 min) I like to acclimate everything by drip method. Take a 1-2' piece of airline tubing and tie a knot in it. put one end into the tank and the other near a bucket or whatever you have your coral set in. if the coral is in a bag, then put the whole bag into a bowl or something stable to hold it upright. then siphon the water out and tighten the knot in the tube until you get about 3 drips per second. let the bag fill up double what it originally was then dump half the water out and do it again. do this four times. should be about an hour. by the fourth time the water in the bag with the coral should be the same water as what is in your tank. shrimp and most inverts need longer time with less amt. dripping. (shrimp 2 hours) hope this helps.....

it doesn't really matter when you do it...lights on or off. and make sure to give the coral up to two weeks to fully adjust. also..you do know you're gonna have to post lots of pics;D

oh yeah...I use a chip clip to hold the line in the water. hook it to the edge of the tank and slide the tubing through it, otherwise you're gonna have to stand there and hold it. I also have a tall bar stool that I set the container holding the bag with the coral in it, that I put right next to the tank.
