I have 4x54watt t-5 light and was wondering if i could get away with doing acropora. I still need to get a power head like the hydor model 2. the acropora are like an inch . i dont know which they are but was thinking about getting one

you should be fine if you get some easy ones
and keep them closer to the top of the tank
you have about 3 watts per gallon
i have sps and i have 3.42 wpg, but my lights are PC
i know a lot of people who would say against it but i dont think there is a problem
yeah it wont grow as fast but thats about it

    so you should be fine

I think you could if they are very very close to the surface. I have a small one a few inches under the durface of my tank with about 200 watts of PC lighting and it seems to be doing ok. A little to soon to say for sure though.

There are many successful SPS reefs that have been kept under T5's, you just need to be cautious with placement and depth.

I've used T5's for 3 years,no regrets, not looking for anything else.I got my sps buddy to switch from 2x250 halides, after he seen my tank.Keep em high up,good flow, and most important, good water quality.I have some lower light ones on the bottom..birdsnests,hydno,etc.
