Acrylic Glue Need Help

Does any one know what type or brand of glue that is marine safe that can be used for glueing acrylic plates together. I want to make a custom bubble trap for my skimmer. Thanks!

 

You can use Weldon 4 or 16 or 40. If it's internal and you don't need super strength I would use Weldon 4, but it needs very good and smooth cuts. For less than perfect cuts use Weldon 16 or 40 (40 is the strongest)
let it cure for 48 hour before using

I believe as the #'s go up, the solvent is thicker.
I'd go with 16 too and probably just fill any gaps later with silicone.

Im thinking about getting "Perfecto Silicone Aquarium Sealant " from petsmart. can it be used as an all around bonding agent? say glass to glass, or acrylic to glass? i duno how easy it will be to find acrylic when i get back to italy. so i duno wut my fuge will end up having in it.

 

weld on #16 is just silicone the local acrylic shop midland plastics told me this so i could save some $ myself just trying to save you $$

 

I've used Weldon 16. And it isn't just silicone! It is a Acrylic weld solvent. That I'm sure of

I have used Perfecto Silicone Aquarium Sealant from Petsmart and it worked great. I only allowed 24hr cure and added my water and that wall is rock solid.

My question is what glue can you use in the water or would it be more of a bondo type?

 

+1 on Weldon. Just built my sump out of it. It is not silicone. It is a true acrylic binder. The 16 is a good all round gooey binder that will fill in some gaps. #4 is all solvent. I find it is strong, but it needs a clean smooth fit. It is very useful as it spreads by capillary action. I've been using it to join plates. Then after it has cured for 24 hours and since I'm paranoid I run a bead of the 16 down the joint and smooth it in with my finger.

For something easy and not load bearing like a bubble trap I'd probably just use #4. Just make sure you have clean edges with no gaps.

I use weld #3 and if my cuts are bad or if am not to sure i we finsh it off with 100% silicone. the weld #3 melts the pieces together and silicone fills in the gaps 4years of working with it never had a problem. Iam pretty lucky because I have a plastic warehouse http://www.midlandplastics.com/ and they sale scrap pieces my sump is about 28/15/15 and it cost me about $30 to build.I would look in the yellow pages or your home town phone book ther has to be a plastic place every were.
