I have 72" bowfront and am planning on retrofit lighting. i'm going to go with 400 watt SPS 14000K MH's (x3). My question is, how man actinics will I need for this setup?

I agree with Luna that seems like a great deal of overkill in the light dept. However that wasn't your question. It it were me I think 4x65 PC Actinics should do the job, tho some may see that as even more overkill considering your daylights

ummm with 14000ks you might need 1 or two t5s. and yea 4X400watt halides is really overkill. go with 250s man...for the fishes sake.

much better and that would be great, halides that is... for actinic i would get 4-6 or more 72" t5 actinics. they get most output per watt and take much less space than compacts.
