I am finally going to majorly "up" my flow rate in my 120 tank with a pair of Koralia Magnum 8's (3250 gal/hour each). I am currently only throwing around 2000 gpm with my Reeflo Dart.
    My question is:
Should the powerheads be added in gradually? Should only one at a time be added? Should they be on for a few hours to start and then gradually increased day by day until they are on 24/7?

It just seems like it's going to be major change in how the tank environment is and I do not want to shock anything.

    Currently stocked very minimally:

    1 Tomini Tang
    1 Sixline Wrasse
    1 Cleaner Shrimp

    Corals:
    1 Large Frogspawn
    Gonipora
    Assorted Zoas.
    GSP colonies
    Xenia Colonies
Assorted Mushrooms on rock and on sandbed

Yours is an interesting post. I like posts that are "out of the ordinary". I would say you shouldn't have to to be too concerned with any SPS but the LPS may not like the increase. I would substitute one new for one old in the exact same position
and see how everything reacts to that new flow rate for about 5-7 days. If all seems well I would then replace the other old power head with the new one and see how that works out. Whatever you decide, let us know and tell us the results.

Thanks for the read Unlcejed - these are actually brand new and not replacing old units - which was why I was extra concerned. And as of yet - I do not have any sps because I didnt have the flow for them - but I do now.

I will take your advice and add only one at a time and I will be sure to direct the flow in a way that will not upset my LPS.

    Thanks for the tips!

I think these "Koralia Magnum 8's (3250 gal/hour each)" are going to be way to much in one direction. Think about getting four smaller ones so you can have the same amount of flow spread out better.

Ok man, Good luck, your frogspawn might go into hurricane mode.

I'll have to try to avoid giving the frogspawn direct flow somehow . . . .

Posting a pic of your tank (full tank shot) will let us see your set up and help further.
