I have a 54g corner tank that has a very low sand line because it was originally the sand and water from my old 30g. I would like to add another 20lbs or so of sand (probably about double what's in there now). Would this cause any problems as far as parameter spikes or anything else? If it will, I just won't do it, but I would love to have a nice inch-thick layer of sand to look at!8)

If it's no live sand it shouldn't be a problem. Rinse the sand well and use a cup to put it on the bottom rather than dumping it in.

If it's live sand you might get a bit of a spike, prob not enough to really bother anything. Don't rinse it but use the cup as above to prevent clouding the water.

I added 30 lbs..poured it down a PVC pipe and just lifted it slowly (Live Sand)-Never had any issues.

Agree with the use of pvc pipe (or any other semi-solid plastic tubing). The addition of a wide funnel at the top can make things easier to dump it in while you are trying to target the area in the aquarium that needs it.
