    IMHO

What it would do, is look perfect in your tank
if you have no live stock at all in there the very worst it could do is just prolong your cycle time a little bit

its only when you add uncured live rock to an established tank you can get issues
the die off may cause ammonia to measure again, but with no life in there aside from bacteria , you dont have that problem

just watch it for nuisances like pest nems , crabs , etc , so a throrough inspection and rinse would be a good idea IMO

Is the rock cured or not? That would be the deterimant for me. If it is fully cured, I don't believe there would be a problem at all. If you expect any die off, I would wait for one cycle to stop, then add it in for a second cycle so it doesn't all hit at once.
