African cichlid food

I currently feed my cichlids new life spectrum cichlid formula along with some algae chips(which they looove). I was thinking about supplementing their diet with some vegetables like peas or something. I was wondering what kind of vegetables you feed your african cichlids. Or maybe I could feed them brine shrimp or blood worms. So, any suggestions of food to bring out my fish's best colors are greatly appreciated.
