I have recently bought some button polyps frags and they have been growing great, but I noticed the other day that on 2 of them they have aiptasias growing out of them and now they are not looking that good. Next to the aiptasias the polyp "stems" are turning red and not opening. Does anybody think that the polyps are getting stung by the aiptasias? If so do you think that I can use some chemical killer without killing the buttons? If not does anybody have any suggestions for me to try. Thanks In advance for any help!!!!!!!!!!

yes - I believe the nems are stinging the button polyps

2 products are available commercially to kill Aiptasias - Joes juice is one and Aiptasia X is the other
home remedies tried by people include Lemon juice and vinegar syringed into the nem
hot water injected into them can also work
Kalc paste spread on them can also work

FWIW, I have the same problem, but the aiptasia are on my Zoas........Ive been injected them with vinegar right next to the zoas. The aiptasia are slowly going away, and even though the zoas do not seem to like tasting vinegar, it doesnt kill them.

I'm with Trevdog. I also bought some frags that had it on them.. about 5 or 6 different polyps of it where here n there. I went out and bought 2 true peppermint shrimp. Within a few days it was all gone. Just be sure you are getting the right ones :)

If they're still only on the frags you could either kalk paste them or even just pull the frag out and superglue over the hole they're in, I think that would take care of them and should be fairly precise and not cause lots of collateral damage.
