the reason I say that the ak is impractical is just my opinion really nothing else. IK have tore one down and can say unless you have a lot of time and tools I would take it to a smith. the ar 10 is the ar 15 on steroids much bigger round like the ak but on a ar 15 fram. plus the ar10 and ar 15 fram you can change the uppers to .410, .338 lupua, .50 BFG, 45 colt. crossbow, and a million more for about 400 a pice. there also easyier to work on if you do break somthing.

What?!? How can you call the AK impractical?? It's the most effective killing machine in human history.

    Let me help you.

im·prac·ti·cal: Not adapted for use or action; not sensible or realistic: "impractical high heels".

The AK kills more people every year than any other weapon. Around a quarter million.

Go with the AK. It is more reliable and packs more punch- Way more. When I shoot something I want it to stay dead. Not to mention the price difference. The ak is $200-$500 the AR 15 starts at $1500 bare bones. The AK is probably the most popular weapon in the world which means ammo is dirt cheap. You could buy an ak and pimp it out for less than you will pay for a bare bones AR. The AR has a better range and is somewhat lighter... I could go on...

The reason the AK is a huge killing machine is because it's so dirt cheap every 3rd world country's army can afford them, and I'm someone who thinks the AK is a load of horse manure. The AR is light, accurate and very versatile as it was made for military use. The AK is so heavy and very inaccurate in my opinion

I could outfit a whole squad with AK's for the price of one AR10/15. The AK is inexpensive, parts are inexpensive, ammo is inexpensive, and it's easy to maintain.

Neither is really a great home defensive weapon because of collateral damage. If you have any neighbors around then I would not be willing to fire an AK inside my home to stop the threat of an intruder as you could hit someone in your neighbors house.

Home defense: 12ga Remington 870 Express 18" loaded with buckshot. In my house that shotgun follows the question, "what the heck you doin' in my house!?!

agree, def don't want to shoot your neighbor... on accident anyway. Shoot first ask questions later.

Must have pistol grip, it makes it easier to maneuver hallways and stairs.

Too bad you didn't compare with the SKS...The best of both worlds...imo.
The AK's and the SKS's are by far the easiest to field strip and clean...thus their killing success...all required tools are in the butt of the gun...I do prefer the Chinese made over the Russian...hard to beat an SKS... especially one that's modded out....But, to answer the question..AK all the way....field proven.
