algae build up

    my refugium has been running a few weeks now and my return section and return pump are getting covered in brown slime algae. the enterance from the fuge to the return section is a small slit towards the bottom and it looks as though the water above is stagnant.. it is an eshopps fuge you would think it would have a good design

    is there somehow not enough agitation in the return section? do any of you have this problem?

    Sounds like it is just cycling and excess nutrients are fueling the slime algae. Do you have or can you add some macro algae like chaeto to your refugium to help out-compete it?

    i have added a handful of chaeto a week ago and havent noticed much change yet...
