I am looking to buy an algae magnet for my 90 gallon tank. I have it down to a choice between an Algae Free Piranha or a Fl!pper.

Which should I pick, and why?

I only have experience with the Fl!pper. It is very good at removing green and coraline algae. Much better than the Mag-float style.

That's what I was thinking, and then I read some iffy reviews. Can't find them now, so I think I will go ahead and grab it!

Well, I read iffy things about the shipping, so I went with one from Marine Depot. The box was kinda banged up, but the packaging inside was perfect.

I didn't have any hard algae (my tank is just cycled), so I can't speak to that, but overall I am really happy. It took off the normal film algae in one sweep. Can't complain!

I've heard good things about the hammerhead mag cleaner. Anyone else have any reviews on this in comparison to mag float?

    Flipper for me also
I had a year or two's worth of coraline on my reef tank, and the flipper combined with elbow grease got rid of it ( had to use the wet side with my hand, rather than with the dry side magnet for some of the more stubborn multiple layer areas
needed a new blade once I had done it
but now I remove the pink circles on a weekly basis, never giving it a chance to take over again

I have a flipper and love it, but the blade go bent in shipping. I'm glad I got an extra blade.
