Everyone seems to pack their tanks with some serious CUC. In my 55, I have 10 nassarius, 3 margaritas, 7 turbos, some limpets (there's probably a whole lot more than I think), a pair of stomatellas, and ~12 hermits, and zero algae to go along with all of that...

You should try and find the cause of your algae problems. What type of water are you using and what type of algae is it? I tried that Algaefix stuff before and it worked but once I stopped using it for the sack of my corals, the algae came back. Once I found the problem to be my water type and I bought an RO/DI unit, my algae problem has virtually disappeared.

Well, I am using our water. We have double filtered well water that I use for my tank. Some of it looks like diatoms, some is red hair algae... but I also have coraline which is good

Not sure what the TDS reading on your well water would be so it could be that or if your tank is fairly new, it could just be going through it's algae phase. After a while, things will start to settle down as the tank matures and then you shouldn't have an algae problem if you keep up with regular maintenance.

Oh, and as for the cyano, increased flow in the areas it's growing always helps with that problem.

New tanks have lots of algae problems. My 37 went through a lot and now there is no algae in it whatsoever.
