Hello all, been seeing some kind of lime green alge on my live rock and i dont know what it is any ideas? Also I have about 25lbs of live rock in my 28gal nano tank, along with three purple corline and 3 snails, and a dozen hermit crabs. I had a problem with diatoms and a brownish hair type of alge on it. After I let my crabs (lol) and snail do there thing it went away. So with that being said can anyone help...any info will be great.

oh okthen well my nitrate , nitrite are at 0 cuz i dont have any fish in it yet. The reason for that is becuse I want to get the tank set up right the first time before I put any nice (and ezpensive) fish in it.As for ammonia when I went to the fish store I took a water sample with me and they tested it and it read at 2. I dont remember what the ph was at and I got 3 snails, and 12 hermit crabs. The type of water im running is RO/DI. Is there any kind of kit to check the ph cal and phosphate levels, and what do you recomend to help with these ANNOYING AS HELL micro bubbles. They only come out when my right pump kickes on. Thank You for any help:confused:

Your salinity is very low. Target reading should be between 1.023-1.026
Yes there are test kits for the most common readings. Ph, calcium, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrates, nitrites. API is one of the more common and less expensive. Although not considered one of the best.

What do you mean when the right pump kicks on? Usually when micro bubbles are present it's due to air getting trapped. Otherwise your pump is sucking air.

I wouldn't go for the fish just yet if you still have ammonia readings. If I read your earlier post right you said your ammonia was at 2? thats really high and will probably kill any fish you put in there. I would recheck everything before you go for the fish.

I've been led to believe that canister filters are not proper SW equipment and that they are suited more for freshwater tanks.

    How new is your tank?

Ammonia level of 2 is waaaaay too high for fish and you really need to know what your pH reads.

Take it slow and don't get in a rush. Better to wait until everything has been confirmed as safe before adding any fish.
