    The bucket of rocks is for when I convert this tank into a refugium. I will have several buckets with a different type of macroalgae in each one. The rocks will serve as a substrate for the macroalgae and as a added structure for copepods and amphipods. Maybe Ill get some added filtration from the rocks, but that would not be the main purpose of having them.

    Thats good to hear about 3reef!! I expect nothing less than the best!! lol As for the harvesting, the live rock is from a local aquaculture operation (Molokai Live Rock) and there are no laws that Im aware of against taking of macroalgae. In fact, ogo harvesting for food is as common as taking fish from the ocean to eat! Plus I do have a permit to collect for recreational purposes. Thanks for the heads-up though! I appreciate it.

    This is actually an octopus post larvae about an inch long. It was caught in a floating light trap in about 80 ft of water.
