I just bought a 29 gallon rubber "sump". I bought it from Home Depot. My plan is cleaning it out and cycling it with a heater and a hob. I then found a fluval for 60 bucks and already have one. My plan is to feed in, feed out via 2 fluvals. I also have a HOB on my mine aquarium which is 55 gal. I have a bunch of live rock coming Wednesday from Liveaquaria to help cycle the "sump". the reason I am doing this is to help reduce the bio load on my inhabitants in the hopes that I can add more then 3 fish.... AM I CRAZY?!?!! If so, what am I missing?!?!?!?

You must use a gravity fed overflow. You can get away with one canister filter as your return pump, but if you are trying to use two canister filters as your in and out, good luck. You will never get them to flow at the exact same rate no matter how hard you try. Even an imbalance in flow of 0.1gph will cause you to either drain, or over fill, your tank by 2.4 gallons per day. You will want to kill yourself after several days.

+1 to Reeron although I hope he is being overly dramatic.

You cannot feed in and out using two fluvals. You will never ever get two pumps to match flows so its a recipe for disaster, one will always outrun the other so either the sump will overflow and tank go low or tank overflow and sump go dry.

Wouldn;t it flow at unequal rates if there is an overflow?

No the flow through the overflow is controlled by the return flow to the tank. In other words the flow out can only go as fast as the flow in.

No. Buy an eShopps PF-300 overflow. I have one and it is a flawlessly designed overflow. Inexpensive too.

Do I need anything but tubing/clamps to get it to work properly?

Overly dramatic, maybe. But the OP will definitely want to bang his head against the wall if he tries using two Fluvals. ;)
