ammonia and nitrates

Well for anyone who saw my 29 gallon thread I toom out lots of water from my main tank and am waiting for my RO/DI unit. Just a question: I have about 20 ppm nitrates in the water my maroon clown is in. I'm also feeding him but there's no working filtration. So will I have both ammonia and nitrates? And if I have to cycle again will nitrite bacteria form? I already have nitrates, so I'd assume that it would form instantly at the beginning

 

seeing from my understanding....
what I would do is gett some filtration running or you should be doing weekly water chaging to keep your nitrates on a good level...
also keep you your feeding down to 1 feed per three days...thus your amonia will still rise but won't go into wack...
this is because the more food is sinking into the tank and the fish consumes also the waste the fish will create because of eating...
all these factors can escalte your amonia meaning lots and lots of water changes...
maybe in the future investing in a small nano skimmer would be a good idea...

 

Well right now I'm trying NOT to do water changes and at the same time trying to keep ammonia levels down, due to the fact that my tap water contains nitrates and my maroon clown can endure ammonia but not too much.

yeah all the LR and coral; when is my RO/DI unit supposed to arrive?? I know there's a 3 day shipping delay but I think that already passed.....? Ehh well I'm just going with the flow
