I was tired of trying to google fish while I was inside my LFS just to see what my tank parameters should be or what it eats. So I created an android app to make my life a lot easier. This app will allow you to find out things like are they reef compatible, their max size, minimum tank size it should be in, colors they come in, are they venomous, where they came from, images and so much more.

The app doesn't just do fish though it also has corals and inverts too. I can't tell you how many times this app has helped me while I was in the store and needed to just do a quick lookup on a coral. The app allows you to search using the scientific name or the unscientific name. This is handy when the person helping you is only saying the scientific names and you want to do a quick translation to unscientific names.

If you're interested you can find the app below. It's only 2$ to download it and the proceeds will go towards future updates. I'm currently in the process of creating a products section for skimmers, pumps etc.

I'm currently in the process of adding images to the app. If you would like your fish to be used as one of the images simply post the image in this thread along with the type of fish it is and I will add it to the app :)

Thanks for the support...feedback is always appreciated!

Cjiggajess - I know what you mean, I actually have the opposite I usually like something only to find out that it's probably not a good fit in my tank. That's actually part of the reason why I made the app.

nyvw - I'm actually in the process of collecting images as we speak. You should see images start to appear over the next couple of days / weeks. I will still keep the google image link in case you want more pics but I'm thinking of adding like 2-4 images per fish, coral and invert.

If anyone has any requests for the app please feel free to post them here. I'm trying to make this app useful for the community not just myself :)

Dang nice app. I have an iPhone though :-(

Do you know of an iPhone app that might be your apps twin, or do you have plans of doing an iPhone app?

    Thanks

I might be looking to port it over to the iPhone eventually. The only thing holding me back is the fact that I currently don't own a mac. You can't program an iPhone on windows and it doesn't seem like there are any plans of apple allowing it.
