    Hi Everyone!
On Friday I purchased my first bubble tip anemone. I did everything that you are supposed to, make sure to wait at least 6 months and make sure that my water parameters were perfect. For some reason my BTA won't come out of hiding! It seems to want to hang underneath my life rock and always towards the back of the tank. I'm new to saltwater and want to make sure that nothing is wrong. I heard that them hiding at first is normal but i'm also concerned because it's not getting enough light and I can't feed it where it is. My light is my tank is a Current Orbit Marine LED light. Please note that I don't have a power head. Some people that I have asked say you need one while others say it varies from tank to tank. Any advice? I have an Aquatop CF-400 canister filter with a spray bar.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You pretty much always need more flow in a reef tank with inverts. Check water chemistry first and always when in doubt.

There is nothing you can do now but wait it out other than correct issues with water chemistry. An anemone will go where it wants and moving it only causes irreversible stress or damage.

Thank you for the reply! I have tried adjusting my spray bar in hope that it finds an area that it likes. However, I want to get more anenomes in the future, as long as take a chance and put it some corals a few months down the road. I would like a power head in my tank. I have a 75 gallon tank, is there any power head brand that you recommend?

Too expensive for my blood so I have stuck with Koralia/Hydor over the years and had no issues, but other have. For the money it's overall a decent power head.

Gyre is the hot new and nice power head on the market. It would definitely tempt me.

Anemones move, BTA move a lot sometimes. You need to protect them from power heads but you need more flow in a 75 gallon for anemones and a reef.

You'll be doing some research with regard to how much flow you need and want related to the types of corals and inverts you decide to keep. :)

I would refrain from trying to feed it in the beginning. If he moves to a spot you like, sometimes feeding them will entice them to stay in that spot. Same may happen if you feed it when it is where you can't see it.

Along with the other great info, that light will not be sufficient for a BTA (or most corals). I'd suggest checking out ReefBreeders.
