ok I posted this on another thread last night. I just brought this anemone home yesterday and I didn't see this growth looking thing on him tull a few hours after he was home. I plan to call the pet store and ask the owner about it but now hes up side down in the tank. I'm not sure if I should keep him or not because I really like him. Is he just splitting or is he dying?? If anyone could help I would really appreciate it. ITs my boyfriends fish tank so I don't know as much as he does but I do buy things and help with the tank so I really don't want the anemone to die :(

That is not a growth. That is the anenome decaying in your tank. Remove immediately

Agreed - thats its insides hanging out. you should take it back to the LFS, they probably ripped it whilst bagging it up for you, because there is no way you would not have seen
    that at the shop

Just wanted to add that that anbem looks like a dyed long tentacle. That will also sting the poo out of your bubble and kill it as well as other corals. I would not get another long tentacle.

It does appear the LFS sold you a sickly creature. I have never witnessed one splitting so I don't know if that could be what is happening. Wait for those who are more expert on anemones before doing anything.

In the second picture you can see that the anemone is ripped open and the growth is its insides. It's not going to make it and should be returned to the store. Don't leave it in your tank and hope for the best. It will nuke your tank.

thanks so much for all the replies. I just got him out..he was really stubborn to come off the rock too. LFS told us it might be that he was pooping or something because he was up side down lol. Owner is a good guy though he'll agree when he see's the anemone. I didn't see it in the pet store because he was hidden behind a rock all I saw was his tentacles and how big he was. There is still some of 'him' like the decaying part stuck to my rock...should i let the cleaning crew handle that or try to scrub it off? Thanks again everyone.

is there anything I should do now to help make sure nothing dies in the tank? I'm a little worried we just spent ALOT of money on corals yesterday.
