That is the "ideal" level, but not the law or always able to be. I had my tank @7.8 for a while with no ill effects. Ph just measures how much O2 or Co2 thats in the water.

I would change 5 gallons every week from a very pure and stable source. this should keep levels pretty stable with all of your equipment. Good job on all of your equipment by the way.

And you'd be surprised how much is varies just by opening a window in the middle of winter when the house is generally closed up.....

I agree 7.8 isn't necessarily a bad pH as long as that is the low point of the tank. If you measured this in the morning before the lights come on then it's not horrible but if that's the peak you get at the end of the day before the lights go off you might want to look in to CO2 levels in the room the tank is in (I don't believe O2 actually directly affects pH just CO2).

Also I assume this was done with a test kit so I would take that reading with a grain of salt, all of the pH test kits I've used were basically useless for how inaccurate and inconsistent they were but that may just be me.

IMO that may not be true. Anemones can degrade for a long time before showing obvious signs of trouble.

The biggest thing I see, like everyone else, is the temp.

I assume you have the four bulb fixture, but I wanted to make sure.

What type of anemones? How many? How big? What is the coloration of the base of the tentacles? where are they in the tank? Have they moved around recently? If so, where from and to?

In what way do they seem to be doing bad? There are a few things anemones will do that are quite alarming the first time you see it.
