Hi, this is my temperate tank in NZ, this one at the top of the country.
After a sucessful run with tropical reef, i decided to have a play with local tanks, a little different from the stunning tank of cwg, a few jewels, but more the temperate wash zone up north here, some jewels, soft corals, seaweed, and nz fish.

Heres the fishroom when i first set it up, sept 2009

Its 2 display tanks, running off a large sump, with deep sand bed and extra live rock in the sump.

I'll try and update it soon, the jewels and soft corals had only just been in the tank for a few days, they are much more at home now:)

thats a very nice set up you have there
and its great to see species of fish in a saltwater tank that are not typical
I recognise the damsel , seen them in pictured before, but the other species are all new to me

    very interesting, thanks for sharing

Great Job! I'm in the process in finishing my fish room myself. Don't you find, you start with so much room & now when you start installing equipment you're like "Maybe I should of gone bigger.." lol...

I do have a question, is that a chiller on the floor or a dehumidifier? If it's a dehumidifier isn't that counter productive or if the humidity in there that bad?

    Thanks everyone, appreciate it.

Thats not a damsel, its a young native angel, a black angel, very closely related to the orange gariboldi (sp?). They change from the lovely colours you see, to jet black.

Yes, thats a 2 hp chiller, not a dehumidifier. In summer the tank stays between 19-20 degrees celcius, in winter 14-15 degrees. This is close to the temps on our coast.
