I've got both Lamb and A Dirty Job. I'll be reading A dirty Job next. His next book is called Fool. I will definitely look into Dorsey. Sounds very familiar.

Loving Frank-Nancy Horan. Interesting read about Frank Lloyd Wright and the era.
His Dark Materials- Phillip Pullman. Along the lines of Harry Potter/The Hobbit, but with a Catholic twist.
A Salty Piece of Land- Jimmy Buffet. Not the best writing, but a great "lose yourself on the beach" book.
The DaVinci Code- Dan Brown. I actually had to read this in front of the computer so I could look up the paintings!

If you liked Fluke (I didn't), you'll love those two. The only other book of his that I didn't care too much for is "You Suck". You have to read that one after you've read "Bloodsucking Fiends" because it's a sequel. I'm pretty sure that you have to read Dorsey's books in a certain order too but they're still entertaining even if you don't.

I'm currently 1/2 way through The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove by Moore. Not as good as all of my wife's friends claim (IMO).

That one was just "ok" but it's still better than You Suck :)

Totally agree on TLLOMC being ok. I read A Dirty Job and was confused for most of it. Didn't care for that one much. I am 100 pages into Lamb and I'm really digging it so far. Think I'll be done with Moore for a while.

Big Richard Preston fan. I love viral pathology books, both historical and thrillers. I'm also a fan of, I hate to say it, books about the Nazi occult sciences and secret weapons. Those guys were nuts!

    Recommended books

The Hot Zone - Richard Preston
The Cobra Event - Richard Preston
    Carriers - Patrick Lynch
    Ebola - William T. Close
Level 4: Virus Hunters of the CDC - Joseph B. McCormick and Susan Fisher-Hoch
    Black Cross - Greg Iles
The Black Sun - James Twining
The Black Order - James Rollins
    Swastika - Michael Slade

Yeah, they definitely can't all be gems but Lamb is outstanding. Give Tim Dorsey a try next time you're at the bookstore. Serge Storms is one cool yet twisted character.

Well, I finished Lamb and thought it was a veeeeerrrrry good book.;D Ah yes, Tim Dorsey. Since reading this post a while back Dorsey has been lingering in the back of my mind. As I was looking through some of his books I realized I have read The Stingray Shuffle. I picked up The Big Bamboo today. I'm going to read a Larry McMurtry book next. It's called Sin Killer. I was looking at Lonesome Dove but it's 853 pages.

I figured you'd enjoy it. I really think it's his best book to date. I'm surprised that you didn't like A Dirty Job as I would rate that as his second best. Once I have time to sit down and read a book again, I'm going to finish Dorsey's "Hurricane Punch" and pick up Moore's latest book.
