I used to but have since stopped and went to two part/ca reactor...
On my new tank I may switch back to kalkwasser though.

Just wondering how you guys dose kalk to your tank (like top off/ drip/ dose pump/ reaction chamber/ other method)

I do. I have a kalk reactor hooked up to my Tunze ATO. Helps keep my pH up on my nano.

I put about 4 teaspoons in every week. Every other day I flip the reactor upside down and shake it.

It would be a lot cheaper if you do. :)

Before my reef tank broke, i was dripping it. I was in the process of trying to figure out the specific dosing needs of my tank when it sprung a leak.
Dripping is a pia imo, as i was testing almost every day and then dosing accordinaly. It also requires some forethought, as it took a couple hours for the precipate to fall out of the solution and settle at the bottom of the container that i was dripping from.

I use it foe top off. I run a warmish tank 80-82, so I go through about 5 gallons of top off and 2 tbsp of kalk at day.

i was thinking about using a reactor or kalk stirrer so i minimize waste... if my understanding is correct, you just sit it and forget it until the precipitate is all used up... then add more precipitate, right?

Well if you don't use a stirrer you need to shake it a bit occasionally or the kalk cakes and turns yellow. I shake mine every other day.

    To fill:
In my case I wait until my bucket of top off is getting low or halfway, make new RO water - then turn off controller, remove top hose and remove bottom hose after check valve, take to sink, shake and dump half or the whole thing, add kalk, refill with new water, put back in bucket and top off bucket.

Sounds easy enough... And this holds your ca and alk levels well matt?

It helps but I still need to two-part every day in my nano unfortunately. Using the ATO means the calculus is a bit more advanced - I haven't put my head around how much it would take yet.
