I have been using 54w Actinic T5's on my system. Is there any reason to back off on the wattage? I don't see any heating issues yet and the color combined with my Halides is awesome.

I use T5 ho's all the way... Love that they dont give out a ton of heat. It makes me scared to possibly advance to MH lighting.

    Red,
The MH's are like sooo cool to gaze at. When I first fired up my sytem with 250W I melted as the light warmed up. The shimmering effect is the most attractive part of MH's. The light burns through the top of the water and reflects down on the sand bed with twisted visuals. You gotta try them. I use specisal fans on mine that are totally quiete and blow the heat in a circular motion to cycle away the heat.

    Way Cool!

I use T5's on one of the tanks. Love t5's. actually going to switch another tank to them. My tanks are shallow, so there is no reason not to. Plus, you can overdrive T5's on deeper tanks and get great results.

I run 6 54 watt T-5 bulbs on my 120G. So far no overheating issues.

I have always used t5ho on my reef tanks.

I use t5ho with my MH on my current tank.

Now as far as overdriving t5ho, I wouldn't even do it on a taller tank. I personally see no reason to OD t5ho at all.
