Hey all i was wondering if its worth the 119 dollars i would spend on it. My only concern is programming. Is it difficult considering theres only 3 buttons on it? is it useful in all of your opinions? does it also make a nice wavemaking box? i have 2 koralia 1 powerheads. do you recommend using the wavemaker? Ive heard that koralias arent meant to be turned on and off constantly. Anyways, my main concern is programming it to my specific needs.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

EDIT: this is the one i would buy:

From those that run the Neptune and Reek Keeper, most seem to think Neptune is easier to program. There are only a couple of comands, but I thought it was a little confusing at first. To lay out the whol eprogram. You can program with the controller, but I think it is worth it to get the serial cable and just do it on your computer. You get the free version of their software, edit and program on your computer, then download it to the programmer. Making minor changes to the program after that is not a big deal on the controller itself.

To make waves, you get the "wavemaker module". Neptune makes "boxes" to do special things, wave making, lunar cycles.... So that is what you need, but you can controll powerheads with the controller it self.

And yes, korilias are not wave makers. They make noise starting and stopping, and doing that is rapid sucsession to make waves wears them out. That is why wave pumps are so exspensive. They are DC and not only do they turn on and off, they vary speed and reverse. So they are not just expensive simple power heads.

what you posted is just the controller. You will also need the power strip at least. It is not just a power strip. It is a relay controlled sockets that the controller communicates with to turn things on and off. I found the best price on packages at Aquacave. ~$270 I think for a controller DC-8 temp probe and Ph probe. Serial cable extra. $15 I think.

I love my controller, but do a little reaeach to know what you are getting into. It was money well spent IMO.

Use 3reef's search engine to read through all the threads about the AC JR. I have it and I wish that I would have bought it decades ago.......lol
