Has anyone had any experience with using one of these denitrators? I've been "researching" and came upon this information. Is it too good to be true?

I've had one for about a year now and it works as advertised. 0 nitrates.

Do you also run a skimmer?

I have had one about 6 months. 0 nitrates. It has really helped me defeat some pesky turf algae. I also run a skimmer but got rid of my wet/dry trickle after installing the Aquaripure.

I didnt for a while but I found that I still needed it to help with the phosphates.
If you have the money for the denitrator, its worth getting. It's one less thing you have to worry about. Very simple to set up and use and it will definitly get rid of the nirtates. Of course, there are other ways of doing it, but Im happy.

It really seems to be what I'm looking for that would work in my current set up (without sump). I was going to upgrade my skimmer but obviously that won't help much with nitrates. I've been running a FOWLR with a Fluval canister and when I had a reef (without the canister), I always struggled with nitrates...I know myself well enough that I'm just not good with regular water changes. I really want to upgrade back to a reef to keep maybe some soft coral but my main goal is keeping an anemone. Did your fish have any stress when you hooked up the aquaripure?

No, fish had no problems. Its a gradual process and takes a few weeks to get it down to zero so the transition is minimal.

wouldn't a bio pellet reactor be alot cheaper and easier? I just set one up 3 weeks ago for less then $30 using an old cheap reactor that cost me $10 and. I know that denitrator needs to be adjusted daily from the video I watched of it right?

You dont have to keep adjusting it but you do need to keep an eye on it. I adjust mine about once or twice a week. Maintenance consists of adjusting the flow rate and feeding it (Vodka). Both take very little time and effort. Its pretty much trouble free. Other than the cost, I can see no draw backs.
Ive also seen a few places on the web that show how to make a denitrator so if cash is a problem, that may be a way to go. I dont have a link but Im sure you can google it.

I understand for you it's not considered much maintenance, but from my standpoint a bio pellet reactor is zero maintenance. I don't have to add vodka or tweak the flow. It's set it and forget it pretty much from my experience.

I'm just pointing this out for the op to consider. It's cheaper, less maintenance and does the same thing.
