    In doing research, I thought you needed a sump system to add a reactor. Is that not true? The aquaripure can be set up to work with my canister.

    no you can run one out of sump also.
    this is one example of a reactor you can run out of the sump

    there are many others also.

    just thought I would add that if you do go with bio pellets add half of what they say to use for the first month or so to give your system time to adjust then add what is recommended. So say your tank needs 8oz of pellets, run 4 oz the first month then you could add 2oz or 4 oz after that depending on how fast you wanted to add them.

    getting rid of your wet/dry filter also probably helped lower N03 since they are known nitrate factories if not kept clean.

    I have no personal exp with either but from what I've read on this forum it's important to have a good working skimmer with intake near the output of reactor when running biopellets.

    I was keeping my bio balls clean but it was high maintenance.
